Maybe the most significant benefit of working remotely is the flexibility it provides. Aside from scheduled Zoom video chats, much of the work we do now is asynchronous, creating new possibilities for work-life balance. 

Being able to work at different times than team members or clients makes it easier to optimize our energy levels for the best work outcomes. Some of us feel more creative at odd times of the day (like when other people are sleeping). Being able to work when it feels right helps us get into the flow more easily and feel less stressed.  

For some, the monotony of a traditional 9 to 5 work schedule can feel downright torturous. And need we mention the drudgery of the cubicle environment? Being able to fully control when and where we work is a game-changer for productivity. Limiting distractions, controlling the temperature, and keeping noise levels in check all lead to a more work-friendly environment. 

Although bliss for some, others may find the lack of structure unsettling.
